Stockport East Cheshire and West Derbyshire branch Update and Appeal

As most of you are aware, the Stockport, East Cheshire and West Derbyshire branch of the RSPCA is independent from the National RSPCA and we have to continually push to raise sufficient funds to keep our Branch open so that we can continue to care for animals across our area of responsibility. Times have been tough for everyone over the past few years and we have had to be very creative to ensure that we continue to support Stockport, East Cheshire and West Derbyshire.

In 2011, we transformed our website, focusing our time and effort to ensure that we built up the information to support the re-homing of our Animals. The website now includes video footage, support articles and updates on the animals that we rehome and care for while we try to find them new homes. As you will all be aware, we have also invested a huge amount of time in developing our facebook page with regular updates and shared information to help you care for your animals.

We are really pleased with the success of facebook and our website and thank you all for your support in ‘getting it off the ground'.

In addition to online mediums, we also regularly place advertisements in the local newspapers courtesy of the MEN group. We would like to thank them for their continued support.
In 2012, we are turning our focus to:

  1. Generating sufficient donations to ensure that the Branch continues into 2013 and beyond.
  2. Encouraging new members and support for the branch.

We have already embedded new ways to donate on our website with text donations, monthly direct debits, single donations, fundraising via search engine use and more. We also use more traditional means of fundraising and can be found gripping our donation tins at Tescos in Handforth Dean during RSCPA week.

How can you help us?

During the first qtr of 2012, we will be putting new banners together to help encourage new donations. We would like you to send us your favourite photographs of your pet (post on our facebook page) to feature in our campaigns. Maybe you have a great image of your dog bounding through a field or rolling in the snow or your cat lovingly draped across the arm of a chair or climbing a tree. We would love to see your pictures and use these to help encourage donations and ensure the continued survival of our Branch.  Please email your pictures to mypetpics@rspca-stockport.org

Get involved. We are always looking for new volunteers. We are currently working through our Job Roles and descriptions to help you understand how you could help us. We are always looking for volunteers to assist with fundraising, animal fostering and committee roles such as accounting, marketing, Corporate Communications, Graphic Design and on. Getting involved does not mean giving up your life. Most of our volunteers have full time jobs and contribute anything from 1 hour per month to 20 hours per week. We don't mandate what you do; we simply ask that you help us where you can. Some volunteers just help during RSPCA week, without their 2 hours commitment each year, the branch would not exist. Maybe you are between jobs and are looking to make a short term commitment, that's absolutely fine, just contact us and let us know what you can do and what you can commit too.

Thank you all again for all you support.  Don't forget us, if you can spare a pound or even a few pounds per month, donate now and help us to help animals in your local area.
